Jennifer Cunningham is a visual artist who works with a wide range of different media including painting, printmaking and drawing, film and digital media. She frequently works with schools and currently works as a tutor for GRETB Galway and delivers Oil painting and Acrylic classes in Galway community college. She has lectured part-time in IADT and NCAD, teaching printmaking, Life drawing, Portfolio Preparation, and Drawing skills. She ran her own Art school in various locations in Galway up until the pandemic and will run classes and workshops in the future. She has won many awards for her work which can be found in collections all over the world.

She has exhibited both nationally and internationally with 7 solo exhibitions between 2012 and 2014. In 2017, she had a successful solo show “All that Surrounds us” in the Ashford Gallery, R.H.A. This was followed by a sell-out solo show After the Future in the Galway International Arts Festival (2018) which received in excess of 30,000 visitors and a five-star review in the Irish Times. In 2019, she had a solo exhibition Between Worlds for Baboró International Arts Festival for Children at Galway Arts Centre. Commissions include poster design for Cúirt Festival of Literature (2019) and Galway International Arts Festival (2020 and 2021).

Jennifer has won multiple awards for her work, including the Arts council Bursary award, the Arts Council Agility award, Creative Places Tuam Artist Bursary, Thomas Damann Travel Award, the Taylor Art Award, the Arts Council Travel and Training award, the Royal Hibernian Academy micro grant and the Galway County Council Individual Artist Bursary 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2002. She has undertaken residencies in the Fire Station Artists’ Studios, the RHA, the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Cill Rialaig, The Inishlacken Project and SIm Iceland.
