O'Neill, Ruairí

Ruairí O'Neil is an artist, silversmith, sculptor, jewellery teacher and photographer, working from his studio in Connemara. He's been making silver jewellery since the 1980s, taking inspiration from the work of the Silver and Goldsmiths on display at the Natural History Museum in Dublin.

His work is sculptural in origin with a Celtic influence. He enjoys creating textures, melting metal and creating three dimensional objects. He's used beach stones in some works and round rocks as anvils to hammer on, the texture on the rocks transferring to the metal.
